About Us

Welcome to Year 3!

The staff in Year 3 are committed to children’s smooth transition into Key Stage 2. We try our very best to ensure our curriculum is engaging and stimulating and encourage children to share their ideas and experiences with us for this to be woven into lessons. We encourage independence in learning, in managing homework and in looking after their own belongings.

About Our Class

We are a team in Year 3. We encourage each other to be the best that we can and we work hard when faced with a challenge. We celebrate our successes and learn from our mistakes. We are polite and friendly and use our class contract to guide us.

The Year 3 curriculum builds on and extends what the children have learnt in Key Stage 1. While the learning environment is a little more formal in Year 3, we continue to explore our topics creatively in a cross-curricular manner. The topics include:

  • That’s Magic
  • Wizardry
  • The Stone Age
  • Violent Volcanoes
  • Home and Away (Italy and the UK)
  • Ancient Greeks

PE is timetabled for Monday and Friday afternoons. Please send your child in with a PE kit in a drawstring bag (making sure all clothing is named!).

Please send your child with a water bottle filled with fresh water each day. Children are encouraged to bring in a piece of fruit for morning break.

Homework will be weekly spellings and times tables learning, daily reading practice and occasional research or project work based on our topics.

We are available to contact on 01484 222918 or office@kayesfirst.co.uk if you have any questions.
