nursery

Thank you for showing an interest in our nursery at Kaye’s First & Nursery School. We are delighted that you are considering Kaye’s for the beginning of your child’s early education. Our popular teacher led nursery is a strength of our school.  We offer 15 hours, part time, nursery provision (morning sessions) for children aged 3-4 years in our 26 place nursery class. We look forward to welcoming new families to join our friendly school community.

We hope that the following information gives you some ideas about the fun things we do in our nursery to encourage and support your child to develop to their full potential.

In nursery we plan activities and experiences that build on both children’s interests and on their spontaneous play, indoors and outdoors, as much as possible. We also use observations and assessments to ensure that activities are matched to the children’s needs and current stage of development and also identify next steps in their learning.

We believe play underpins all development and learning for young children. It is through play that children develop physically, socially, emotionally, creatively, and intellectually.

The characteristics of effective learning: - ‘Playing and exploring’, ‘Active learning’, and ‘Creating and thinking critically’ underpin effective learning and are fundamental in observing how children engage with others and their environment and in supporting them to become effective and motivated learners.

We deliver all areas of learning through planned, purposeful play and adult led activities, within our continuous provision indoors and outdoors.

The principles of ‘The Early Years Foundation Stage’ and characteristics of effective learning play a fundamental part in the provision, organisation, planning, observation and teaching in our nursery. The curriculum is planned to promote progress in all areas of learning as outlined in ‘Development Matters in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)’
