In nursery we plan activities and experiences that build on both children’s interests and on their spontaneous play, indoors and outdoors, as much as possible. We also use observations and assessments to ensure that activities are matched to the children’s needs and current stage of development and also identify next steps in their learning.

We believe play underpins all development and learning for young children. It is through play that children develop physically, socially, emotionally, creatively, and intellectually.

The characteristics of effective learning: - ‘Playing and exploring’, ‘Active learning’, and ‘Creating and thinking critically’ underpin effective learning and are fundamental in observing how children engage with others and their environment and in supporting them to become effective and motivated learners.

We deliver all areas of learning through planned, purposeful play and adult led activities, within our continuous provision indoors and outdoors.

The principles of ‘The Early Years Foundation Stage’ and characteristics of effective learning play a fundamental part in the provision, organisation, planning, observation and teaching in our nursery. The curriculum is planned to promote progress in all areas of learning as outlined in ‘Development Matters in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)’

Every child is individual. They start our nursery at different stages of their development. Through observation and interaction with our nursery children, Individual needs are assessed and activities, resources and experiences are planned appropriately to meet children’s needs, allow for progression.

Within our nursery we provide a wide range of learning opportunities to enable the children to access a variety of experiences and have fun as they learn through play.

We hope that this brief outline has given you some ideas about the fun things we do in our nursery? Please contact us if you require more information.
