Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the funding?

All 3-4 years olds eligible for 15 hours free child care

Working parents eligible for 30 hours free childcare (terms apply)

The funding is available term time, 38 weeks per year

  • How do I access the funding?

You will need apply online www.childcare.tax.service.gov.uk and provided with an eligibility code which will be valid for three months

The eligibility code and other relevant details will need to be provided to school who will verify the eligibility details and claim the funding

You will need to apply every three months

  • How will the 30 hours provision work at Kaye’s?
    • You will be able to select the hours you require between 7.30am and 6pm
    • Nursery Provision led by an experienced, qualified teacher will be available between 9am-3pm (known as core hours)
    • Kaye’s Club led provision led by trained Playworkers will be available between 7.30-9am and 3-6pm
    • Any free hours taken during Kaye’s Club provision will be calculated hourly
  • How will I be charged for additional hours over my free 30 hour entitlement?
    • The six hour Nursery day will end at 3pm. If you wish to collect your child at 3.30pm there will be an additional charge of £2 if hours total more than the free 30 hours in the week.
    • Kaye’s Club fees will apply to any hours taken over the free 30 hours between 7.30am-9am (Breakfast Club £4 per session) or 3.30pm-6pm (After School Club £7.50per session). Kaye’s Club fees are a flat rate and unable to be broken down in to an hourly rate.
    • You will not be charged the additional £2 on any days you pay the After School Club fee.
    • You will be invoiced half termly for any additional hours you request and asked to make payments online via ParentPay over the half term.

We have planned carefully to ensure parents receive the best value. Free hours taken during Core Hours provide the best value for money due to Kaye’s Club fees being much lower than the Government childcare allocation per hour.

  • Who are the staff?
    • Nursery Core Hours 9-3pm: The main nursery will be staffed by Miss Horner (Teacher), Mrs Wybrow (Senior Early Years Practitioner) and Mrs Parkinson (Lunchtime Cover).

  • What meals will my child receive?
    • You may choose whether to pay for a school dinner cooked by the main kitchen or provide a packed lunch.
    • All lunches will be eaten in the School Hall.
    • Children will be served breakfast at Breakfast Club and a substantial snack at After School Club.
    • Snacks will be provided, including free fruit and milk.
  • Will I be able to change my hours?
    • You will be able to request changes to hours every term, subject to availability.
    • Additional paid Kaye’s Club sessions will accommodated daily, subject to places available.
  • Can I split my childcare free entitlement between two child providers?

Yes. However, we strongly recommend taking advantage of our teacher led provision between the hours of 9am-3pm.

  • Will there be any childcare available during school holidays?

Not at present. However, we have developed close links with Denby Dale First & Nursery School who will be happy to accept Kaye’s children between the ages of 3 and 10 during holidays.
